Common Questions

Foundation Cost and Inspection Questions

How much does foundation repair cost?

It depends on the foundation type, how many piers are needed, and access. A small corner repair costs far less than a whole house. Permits through the Permit & Inspection Division of the Department of Development are included in our written price when required, so you see the full number.

What happens during the on-site visit?

We take floor elevation readings, measure cracks inside and out, check doors and windows, look at drainage, and go under raised homes. Because Louisiana has clay soils that swell when wet and shrink when dry, we also look at what is changing soil moisture around the house.

What should I ask a foundation contractor?

Ask for written findings, the cause of the movement, the repair plan, and who files the permit. Since home improvement work on an existing home valued at $7,500 or more falls under LSLBC rules, ask to see the company's standing with the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC).
